In January 2023, as part of my participation in the MultiMadeira artist residency, a workshop called Embodied Reading Lab: On connection was held under the guidance of Stephanie Hanna, a movement-somatic educator and experimental artist based in Berlin. Her workshops focus on somatic movement research that introduces us to the inner perception of our bodies and engages the reading of text, which then explores the theme of connection in movement. The subject was Kae Tempest’s book On connection, to which the participants responded freely. Throughout the process, communication and connection occurred. It was an authenticexperience recorded by our bodies and hand-noted notes on the book excerpts.I then responded to the workshop with my own work entitled We were We still are made from leftover textiles.
